I have the honour to acknowledge

the receipt of Your Lordship's telegram of the 14th. of

last September and confidential despatch of the 18th. idem

with regard to the appointment of a third judge in the

Supreme Court of this Colony: and in confirmation of my

telegram of the 28th. idem I now transmit the correspon-

dence noted in the annexed schedule which has passed be-

tween the Chief Justice and myself, together with a minute

2 the Attorney General dated the 16th. instant.

2.

I am taking steps to have a Bill

drafted with the object of constituting the New Court of

Appeal.

I shall communicate further with Your Lordship

after the Bill has been considered by Sir Francis T. Piggot

with a view to submitting it to Sir Havilland de Saumarez.
